Getting internet stuffs done require correct configurations + (FNI)

Mobile connectivity issues is one of the problems some smartphone users have today, the most common problem related to this is failure to establish a mobile data connection. This kind of problem has to do with either your phone or some issues from your network provider but your phone is first to consider when this kind of problem arises.

Before solving any problem that is related to mobile data connectivity one has to perform some test to his device with this problem before going to the fixes. If you found your phone is having difficult or completely not connecting to internet then don’t panic because you can solve this problem with simple steps we are going to provide below.

Phone reboot

Sometime some problems with your phone are not up to what you think; doing system reboot can fix some minor software related issues. Frequently rebooting your phone is important even if your phone has no problem because doing so can improve your device performance by clearing all running services that brings low performance to your device. To reboot your phone, press and hold power button for three seconds then select reboot or restart from the menu. After your phone finishes rebooting try enabling mobile data to see if rebooting will fix your problem.

Airplane mode

Enabling airplane mode might help get rid of this type of problem, switching flight mode uses to reset your phone cellular network from small network issues.

Try turning ON your phone airplane mode for twenty seconds then turns it off. To enable airplane mode, scroll down your status bar if you are using android phone then click on flight mode icon which is normally with airplane icon in the icons tray, leave it enable for twenty seconds then turns it off and try turning ON your mobile data to see if it solve your problem.

This goes the same for iOS users, open your control center then click on the airplane icon which is normally in the network category, leave it enable for twenty seconds then switch it off and try enabling your mobile data.

APN (Access Point Network) settings

An APN setting plays a huge role on mobile data connection, failure to have APN configuration on your phone lead to this problem. APN use to point your mobile data connection based on your network operator settings by using the name, APN, Proxy, Username, Password, Server and other fields as the Access Point settings configurations.

Check your APN settings to make sure it is properly configured by heading to your phone settings and select connections from the menu (this may vary with your phone type) then select cellular networks from the options then select access point names from the options, here you can see all the configured access points based on your network provider, if there is no any APN in the list then follow the steps below to set up a new one.

Setting up new APN can be done manually or by contacting your network provider for automatic set up but these steps we are going to provide is based on manual process.

1. Navigate to your phone settings and click on connection or something similar to this.

2. Select mobile / cellular networks from the options.

3. Click on access point names based on your sim with this problem.

4. In the next page click on Add icon which is normally with plus icon.

5. Fill the provided fields by entering your network provider name in the Name field and APN in the APN field.

For Airtel users, Airtel in the name field and internet.ng.airtel.com in the APN field.

For MTN users, mtn in the Name field and web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net in the APN field

For 9mobile (etisalat), 9mobile in both the APN and name fields.

For glo users, glo flat in the name field and gloflat in the APN field.

Leaving the access point settings with only those two fields can make your mobile data connection to work because other fields are not required since the most important is to make your phone point to those two fields to your network provider so as to make mobile network works.

Alternatively you can set up your APN settings by requesting the APN from your network provider; this method can be simple if you cannot set up manually. In order to request for automatic APN configuration from your network provider then follow the steps below.

Head to your message app and follow the SMS instructions based on your network provider.

For Airtel users send MO to 54321, you will receive a message from Airtel network provider with your internet settings, follow the prompts carefully and configure it.

For MTN users send SETTINGS to 3888, then patiently wait for some seconds to receive your SMS, right after receiving follow the prompts to configure it.

For 9mobile users send SETTING to 790 and wait for the SMS then open the configuration message and click on save or click on full install.

For glo users send your phone name with the model name to 927, example REDMI NOTE 8, you will receive your APN settings through SMS then open it and click on full install.

After following the above steps your mobile data connections problem will be solved and if you found this post to be helpful then share it with your friends.
