Tracking your device can be done with many types of apps; like Google maps, carrier phone finders, phone trackers, Google find my phone and so on. In this post we are going to use Google find my device.

How to track your android phone using find my device

Before going to the steps here are the things to consider in order to track your lost device.

The lost phone must be turned on and it must have a signed Google account also the device location (GPS) must be active and it must have an active internet connection and lastly the find my device option must be turned on. Confirming whether the phone is on or off and has an active internet connection is difficult because the device is no longer with the owner, but if the other requirements (Location, signed Google account, find my device option is enabled) are available then you can try the next steps.

Carefully follow the steps below correctly.

1. Borrow you friend’s phone or laptop and navigate to the chrome browser then sign in your Google account by entering Google account sign-in in your browser search bar and press enter.

2. After the requested input (Google account sign in ) finishes loading then look for the search results to sign in with your Google account which is usually (sign in – Google Accounts) then click on it to open the sign in page to input your email address and password ( the same email in the lost device).

3. After successfully signing in then enter this URL in your browser http://www.google.com/android/find.

4. When the page finish loading then it will automatically display a map showing the last known location of your device with three options on the bottom of your screen which are Play sound, Lock and Erase.

Clicking on the play sound option will make the phone to make a sound, this is important when you are in the current location of the device but many people are around then using this can make the phone to ring aloud for five minutes even when the phone is in silent mode.

Erase option let you erase all your device data. When you find it hardly to know exactly the location of your device then you may try to make your information inaccessible by using the erase option to wipe all your data. Lock option can lock your device as long as you want so as to make the device inaccessible up to when you found the phone.

Keeping all the tracking requirements active can make it easy to remotely track, lock and wipe your phone if you lost, because if the two to three of the requirements more especially phone location (GPS) and find my device options are off then this will make it hard to track the device.

Conclusion

Many heard of any lost phone can be tracked using different types of tracking apps and find my device is among those apps. You can track, wipe data and erase with Google find my device, provided that all the tracking requirements are enable. Kindly leave your comment if you found this post to be helpful.
