Android software updates not always went as expected, diving to the root cause can balance the culprit

 



Software updates is one of the most important feature in our smartphones, failure to update in long run brings software related issues and hardware as well. Most common problems of ours phones are normally fixed by updating our phone's firmware, these problems can be apps hanging, insufficient storage and so on. 


Frequent software updates offer many improvement to your phone like increase in device performance, new user interface and most important android security patches, because when your android phone lack security then your data is not safe at all this can give cyber-criminals access to your data.

Bad Internet

Bad Internet connection can significantly contribute to software updated failure, because this can make your device difficult to connect to your update service. Software updates require a good Internet connection to be downloaded from the manufacturers update service.


Solution: check your Internet connection to confirm that it is working fine by opening any browser and try opening any webpage. If you are in an area with bad Internet then consider using Wi-Fi or move to another area with good Internet connection.


Reseting your cellular network might help fix your network issue. Try enabling airplane mode for twenty seconds and then turn it off. After trying all the above and still the problem persists then try next solutions.


Third party apps

There are some third party apps that can stop your phone from downloading software updates. This issue is commonly with Samsung phones and fixing this require one to know the exact app causing that problem. 


Solution: uninstall any previously installed app that you might think it contribute to this.


Using safe mode is another way to solve this problem because safe mode is designed to diagnoses any problem causes by any third party app. 


To enter safe mode on your phone press and hold power button until the logo appear then release it then press and hold the power button again till it shows Reboot to safe mode, then click on it now your phone will boot to safe mode. After successfully entering safe mode this will stop any third party app from working, now try doing software update and see if anything works fine then the problem is due to system apps now you can try to uninstall any of the previously installed app.


To exit safe mode just restart your device by press and hold power button for three seconds then select restart.


After your device finish booting to normal mode then try to uninstall any suspected app then try updating your phone again to see if this solve your software update problem.


Insufficient storage

Doing software updates on low storage phone can bring problems related to this, because the updates requires some space on your device storage. 


Solution: make sure you have enough storage at least 1GB before doing software updates, because doing update on low storage phone can bring this issues. Try to get some enough space by deleting any unused app or files.


Factory reset

Factory reset is the last option if trying all the above solutions and problem not fixed. Before doing factory reset make sure you do data backup so as to avoid data lost. Any problem related to software is most likely to be solved if factory reset is done, so consider this as your last option.
