Phone not charging is one of the common issues our phones have and solving this problem require to identify the root cause. There are many things to consider when your phone is not saving a charge or not charging at all.
It is unfortunate to find your phone having this kind of problem, because when phone refuses to charge then this will stop you from doing all your important stuffs like phone calls, surfing net and sending text messages.
But keep in mind that taking your device to the phone expert is not the first thing to do because some problems are not up to what you think, instead try applying self help fixes we are going to provide.
Is there any hope for such issues?
The following can lead to charging failure in your device and try to apply the provided solutions.
Loose USB cable
When your device is not charging then check your USB cable to confirm that it is not loose, because a damaged USB cable can lead to failure to let current flow from the power source to your phone.
Solution: Consider changing or purchasing new USB cable of the same type with your phone's own if found loose or damaged. Don't try to use masking tape to repair the loose part because this is short term solution and it may lead to cable wires to contact each other which can lead to power surge.
Dirty charging point
If your charging point is full with dust then it prevent contact between the charger pins and the charging point which further lead to blocking the electric current from entering the device and eventually damage the port completely.
Solution: Completely shutdown your phone and safely remove the battery then check the charging point to see if there is dust inside, if you found dust inside then use a toothpick or needle and gently pick the dust out of the port.
Water contact
When your phone mistakenly fell into the water then this will cause some hardware components to corrode and failed to function properly, charging point can get corrode as well since it is a metal which will eventually cause the port to not conduct or receive current from the power source.
Solution: try to not use your device when it has contact with water, allow it to fully dry by removing all the removable components like battery and then place it in outdoor to get dry with sunlight.
Low voltage
Using low voltage source to charge your phone can lead to charging malfunctions, and failure to charge is among those issues. Some phones can detect the charge from the power source but the charge will not increase because the current is not up to the device requirement. Power banks are mostly used to charge phones when light is not available and doing so can cause your battery to damage very fast.
Solution: try to not charge your device on low voltage source because doing so not only bring charging problems but also cause short battery life, always try to use good power source for charging your phone.
Spoiled charging adapter
If your charging adapter got spoiled then this will certainly stop your phone from charging because charging adapter is responsible for transmitting the current from the power source to your device.
Solution: Try using the same power adapter to charge another phone, if anything works fine then the problem is with your phone but if found not charging another phone then it is from the power adapter, by then you should consider changing with new one that is compatible with your phone.
Factory resetting is another fix to consider if trying all the above solutions but the problem persists. Factory resetting only work if your charging issue has to do with software problem, and before attempting to reset your phone consider doing data backup so as to not loss your important files.
Taking your phone to repair expert might be helpful at long last if resetting your device doesn't help, because it is likely something to do with hardware.
Using your phone with care can be a good preventive measure for any problems and always go for compatible phone accessories like charger, try to use the original product based on your device type.
