We are familiar with phone calling and texting every day to the extent even our business cannot move the way we want without phone calls. Phone calls is the one of the main function of our smartphones, failure to make or receive a call can make your cell phone turn to something of less use.
Smartphones are not made problem-resistant this means that anytime a problem might occur even if your phone is brand new one. We are familiar with most of the problems and we always try to find a way to solve those problems. Among the most unfamiliar problems on our phones is unable to receive a call. Solving this need to identify the root cause.
Phone not receiving a call is one of our smartphones issue today, and solution to this is easy provided that one has found the root cause of the problem. There so many things that contribute to this, if your phone is unable to receive a call then consider the followings.
Network issues
If your sim card has some network problems, then this may restrict calls from entering your phone. Emergency calls only is one of sim card problems, when your sim card is in emergency mode it will stop you from making any network operations, these operations can be making calls, receiving calls, sending and receiving message. Solving emergency calls only has to do with low network coverage in your area, this means if there is no network in your area then your phone carrier can change to emergency calls only. Invalid sim card is another problem but most likely this issue has to do with your sim card, if your network carrier changes to invalid sim card then this can also stop you from receiving a call.
Solution: try turning on airplane mode for 20 seconds in order to reset the cellular network then turn it off, if the network carrier come back to normal then you are good to go but if the problem persist then consider removing your phone battery and remove the sim card then try to insert the sim card to another phone, if anything works fine then this problem has to do with your phone, now you can move to the next fixes.
Do not disturb mode
Do not disturb mode is a feature that stops your phone from receiving calls and notifications; it makes your phone completely silent. Most of the androids and iOSs have this feature. As the name suggest, this feature is designed to make a user concentrate when doing something. When this mode is enabled on your phone then this cannot only stop you from receiving calls but also notifications. Sometimes one has enabled this mode and forgot to disable it which can further result to this problem.
Solution: to turn off this mode, for android users drag down your notification toggle and look for the option called do not disturb or DND mode then tap on it to turn it off (if it is already active) or navigate to your phone settings and click on sound option then look for Do not disturb then open priority only allows and toggle off all the options to disable the mode.
For iOS users open your control center and look for do not disturb it is normally with moon icon, click on it to turn it off, alternatively if the icon is not in the control center then head to your phone settings and click on Do Not Disturb option then click toggle off all the options to turn it off (if it is already enabled).
Call forwarding/call diverts
When call forwarding or call diverts is enabled on your device then this will stop you from receiving calls. Call forwarding use to redirect all your incoming calls to someone’s phone. Most of the phone users have this problem without knowing because one cannot identify this unless if it takes long time without receiving a call then one can try to figure out what is wrong with the phone.
Solution: open your phone app (dialer) then click on the three dots from top right hand corner of your screen and click on settings from the option then select on calling accounts then click call forwarding option, enter all the options and turn them off.
If you try all the above fixes and the problem persists then try factory resetting your device, but keep in mind that if you do not backup your data then all your data will be lost. You can also take your device to the phone expert for repairing if resetting the phone doesn’t solve the problem.
